It's hard not to justify this. They're making a game with perhaps the most varied 24 characters ever put in one (it's hard to compare Snake, Pikmin, and Sonic--and those are just from a quick reading of smashbros.com); many are from different games--indeed, companies. Nin's trying to make all of them look, work and play right in a single game (lest fanboys of ANY ONE of those characters complain). Every little bug they find would take maybe a week to fix well. also this site is not funny or original.
