Apple spent 4 years and who knows how much on R&D on making its new iPhone, but it couldn't spend 5 seconds to search "iPhone" on Google first.

Actually, you fail. http://investor.cisco.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=81192&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=949340 "Cisco obtained the iPhone trademark in 2000 after completing the acquisition of Infogear, which previously owned the mark and sold iPhone products for several years. Infogear's original filing for the trademark dates to March 20, 1996."
