"Analysis: The Child is trapped under a Glass Cup. She is performing acts
for people. The famous neon sign and pig indicate their explotation of the
Child itself. The Heart and Coin indicate what is given to the child
itself. Nickle meaning not alot of money at all, chump change. Heart
meaning Love and adoration of the child. Basically she is a exploited child
trapped and not being paid well, the "pig" is the people exploiting her for
what money they can milk from her."
you arent deep and neither
I see there is an artsy group that loves to come into ROY4L's ytmnd comment box and act like how they're the smartest people around because they understand the gif. This is rather pathetic.
I'm really wondering why everyone is making such a big deal about downvoters on this site. Whether or not you think this is better than most of the overused crap on YTMND is your opinion but please don't go spreading your opinion around like it's the greatest truth ever spoken.
Actually the meaning of this is quite simple, I'd hate to think that people would be stuck up knowing what the gif means. Content is simple enough to work with, anyone can do it, it's just a collection of symbols, viewers only understand the piece by knowing what the symbols stand for and how they play on each other. With such emphasis on content, you seem to be completely missing any kind of form or skeletal structure behind the piece. The form is what really sucks the life from this.
of people. The music starts out sort of cheery and yet develops an adult, serious, yet sort of faded mood as it progresses. The drum dissapearing and reappearing could symbolize how the child thinks she is doing something important or meaningful, even if this is as simple as beating a drum. Yet this is just an act, in reality it is nothing.
The nickel/heart on each side could symbolize the subconscious demands/thoughts of the producers/viewers... the child is trapped in this false sense of reality; the people doing this have a true intention of only using her for money and other lechery. The glass could also represent trying to bottle up her youth, moreover trying to preserve the child's frail, powerless position.
^^^ to the person who posted in betwee n my interpretation - are you an analyzer in art? have you had to spend years developing an eye to catch subtleties? This man is a genius. Those who cast it off as b.s are similar to those who discredited Dali and Picasso; pessimistic, artless souls, the very kind Roy4l makes fun of.
Once again, you put work into it, but this is still masturbatory. You know who your audience is and still you make these. Half these people vote it because they think it is interesting to look at and some upvote it because it is artsy fartsy and want to be associated with that sort of intellectualism. Let me put this in a nutshell, you are making your art for yourself rather than for others or for it's own purpose of exporession. It's soulless.
I can give you a 2 for your hardwork, but whether you subconsciously or cosnciously think it, you dream of being hailed as a artistic genuis and are anticpating that these are your "masterpieces that were wasted on morons." As poetic as it all sounds it's pompous because you know this is not a artistic crowd to impress with your work. Irony fails if you are betting on the outcome every step of the way.
Shirley temple is in a drink glass because a shirley temple is a type of drink too. I don't think anyone pointed that out yet. Oh, and "Let me put this in a nutshell, you are making your art for
yourself rather than for others or for it's own purpose of exporession.
It's soulless." ??? Wtf, when did creating art for the sake of creating art instead of selling out to the lowest common denominator become soulless?
Why do people assume if you upvote something like this, it's only to try and make yourself look intellectual to the others. Seriously, it's just the internet, no one should even care enough to do that. I am giving it a 5 because it's artsy. I happen to like abstract/artsy stuff, I'm not trying to prove anything to anyone and uhm.. where did max say this site was meant only for "humor" now?
