Actually gir53457, bowser was known as bowser in the old mario games. It even says so in the old super mario instruction book. It was the super mario super show where they called him King Koopa

King Koopa is Bowser, he was never known as just one or the other, he is King of the Koopas, his first name is just Bowser, so his full name is Bowser Koopa. Didn't you ever play SMB3? The Koopa Kids? They called him both King Koopa and Bowser in that gam

"Koopa" is also what Bowser is known as in Japan. Funny thing is, I acctually remember watching this show "King Koopa's Kool Kartoons" when I was little. Ah, nostalgia. If any video game villain deserved to get his own cheesey, kiddy show, it was definately King Koopa. Though, I wish they got his horns right at least.
