I contemplate murdering those who cannot tell the difference between proper and improper aspect ratios. You go to a restraunt, and every f*ckin' TV displays whatever program is on in f*cking 16:9 whether or not the original broadcast was in 4:3. LOOK! We have widescreen TV's! Behold! Everyone's head is a f*ckin watermelon! Oh the splendor!

Remember pan and scan VHS? I always remember renting Die Hard and wondering why all the actors in that movie had such narrow heads, and now it's like this...

I actually like this aspect ratio. It creates an interesting visual metaphor that is emphasized by the unreality of the image - the water stretches out, as if an ocean, an ocean of humor, and Jack Black licks it all up and pisses it onto unsuspecting passersby. It's a shame.
