Think about it, the gundam is heavily armed, plus it feels no pain. Jedi loses an arm? He falls over screaming in pain, sometimes into a pit of lava. Gundam loses an arm? Unless he happens to be a main character, he'll explode, or if he is one, he'll probably do something kickass like shoot a laser from his torso.
